If you had The Vault on at 5:57 this morning and heard some coughing in the background of a song, that was me. Good thing that’s ALL you would’ve heard. Here’s our very-simple-to-operate microphone button. You would think an experienced radio announcer would know to 1) cough, 2) Turn on the microphone, and 3) then speak into the microphone, but I botched it today.
You’d be surprised at the number of radio people I know that have gone WAY beyond coughing into a “live mic.” One rookie years ago was upset that some studio equipment wasn’t working, uttered an F-bomb, then noticed his microphone was on. He waited for the phone to ring. Nothing. He waited to be fired. Never happened. He felt even worse when he realized maybe nobody was listening.
